Dodgers: Early Success

I know its early and the season just started but if the dodgers continue to play as good and as constant as they are playing right now then the espn crew on baseball tonight would be right about there prediction of the dodgers winning the NL west and winning the world series…
This year so far Brad penny has looked like Roger Clemens in his prime hitting 95 mph only when he needs to and has had “good command” which is what Grady Little has said about Brad penny this year. If Brad Penny can continue to pitch strong and the Dodgers defense continues to be solid this could be a big year for the dodgers.
A lot of the runs scored this year have been by playing small ball, which is the dodgers strength this year. Not to say the dodgers don’t have any pop in there bats because anyone in the lineup could go yard any given night with the exception of Furcal and Pierre who are the dodgers fastest players that give the dodgers that 1-2 punch getting on at the top of the lineup. The Dodgers are fortunate to have Pierre and Furcal both in the lineup because if one doesn’t get on you bet the other will and both are capable of stealing a base and getting in scoring position to later get knocked in with an RBI double by Nomar or Kent. This is why the dodgers are in first place and are going to be a tough and dangerous team to beat this year.
Bottom Line:
3-0, 0.89 E.R.A., those are great numbers for Brad Penny. If he could stay healthy and consistent he will take pressure off of Lowe, Wolf, & Schmidt and allow them to pitch more comfortable be more dynamic with out the pressure of being an ace which surprisingly is Brad Penny. If the other dodger pitchers pitch well and Penny keeps on winning the Dodgers will arguably have the best pitching staff in the National League.
