is their old fans. They have no respect for our Los Angeles Dodgers. Their senile brains think Angelenos don't deserve the Dodgers. Cry me a river. Get over it.
This is why I don't like associating myself with the Brooklyn Dodgers. _________________ "Losing feels worse than winning feels good." - Vin Scully

I guess that puts me on the top of your list UP. Listen, many fans who followed and loved the Brooklyn Dodgers were traumatized when the team was snatched out of the borough and moved West. I'm talking near suicide watch. Brooklyn WAS the Dodgers; the whole borough completely identified with them.
It is the only sports franchise that I know of that was moved despite the facf that it was being supported by the fans and sponsors. In fact, the last five years of their existence Brooklyn earned MORE MONEY THAN ANY OTHER TEAM and was the most profitable franchise in baseball, and, yes, that includes the Yankees.
It is also very evident now that despite what Mayor Wagner and future governor Nelson Rockefeller were doing to raise money f or the sale of the land for the Dodgers new stadium in Brooklyn, calling on O'Malley to give the city another year or two to straighten out the situation, the portly owner had already made his decision to move months before he announced it. In other words, he lied his way out of Brooklyn. There is little dispute about that now.
Some old Brooklyn fans are still very bitter but most have moved on as they should have after 50 years. I could go on forever on this topic but it can be safely said that the old Dodger fans you talk about have moved on to the Mets, some actually to the Yankees, and me to the Red Sox. The Dodgers are yours and you are welcome to root like hell for them.
BTW, you never contacted me last fall when I asked you to. I wanted to get some info so I could buy your daughter either a birthday or Christmas present. |

Darth, I wondered what had happened to this site. It just seemed to disappear. Good to know it's back. I'm no expert on the Dodgers as you and UP are but that NL West Division really has be baffled. Those five teams just cannot be as bad as they have played. Imagine, no one with a plus 500 record? I would think that sooner or later one team will get hot and run off with a ten game winning streak and move ahead of the pack, but reading the papers in LA and Long Beach we know it won't be the Padres or Giants the way they're going, so it has to devolve on the Dodgers, D'Backs and the suddenly hot Rockies to determine who gets the jump on the other.
I will probably go to one of the Giants-Dodgers games next week. I have always loved that rivalry and love to see those two in action. I was at opening day this season, thanks to a pal who pilfered two tickets from a rich friend. |
