eh. I know I know it is Greg Maddux and I know he was with the Padres who have a poor Offense. But I think we have a better #4 or #5 starters. Both Stults and Park have better ERAs. Plus park sucks coming out of the bullpen and I think he's play has gone downhill as of late.Maybe his magic is over. So because of that maybe Maddux would be a good #5 starter... and I trust him more in the post season than Stultsy or Park.

Even if he doesn't perform like a superstar, his intangibles is what makes this deal work. I remember a story about how 2 years ago he guided Penny through an entire game in terms of what pitch to make and it ended up with Penny throwing a shutout. Back then, Bills was just up-and-coming and imagine him picking at Maddux's brain. Not to mention he might take Kershaw under his wing like Manny has with Kemp.

I love the guy, he pitch a couple of the best games I saw 2 years ago and I was a season ticket holder that year. And Maddux does bring a second pitching coach to the table as he has the instant respect of every arm in Blue.

However his 5 inning starts do tend to put a strain on the bullpen. A pen that is already stretched to the limit of late. And this is a guy that is on the wrong side of 40, who couldn't stick with the Padres. And he's getting paid what???

I hope Greg is inspired by being in a pennant race and on an exciting team... but I'm keeping expectations low.

I found this pretty interesting

Quote:
Maddux, who has 353 career wins, six for the Dodgers after the 2006 trading deadline, waived his no-trade clause to return to Los Angeles. In fact, the Dodgers were the only team to which Maddux would consider a trade, but the teams could not agree on a trade three weeks ago.

In a relief situation? I mean yeah Kuo blew it last night but he has been VERY good this year. He had an off night. You can't afford to not trust Kuo and his ERA at this point.

According to MLB Yahoo he plays on Saturday against the Phillies, could be wrong though.

I don't think Kuo is great either. He is having a superb year however. BUT why risk sending out a 42 year old pitcher in a situation he isn't used to and risk him getting injured when he MAY be thekey player to vault us into #1 in the West, into the playoffs, and possibly make some noise? If Torre would have put him in, in relief and he got injured, I don't think i'd be a fan of Torre anymore. I mean my faith is indeed falling but I still like him at this point. Just saying that this was a possibility of something that could happen.
