Losing streak ends at 6, Furcal’s blast lifts Dodgers

Breaking News, The Dodgers put some runs on the board. Scoring a whopping 5 runs and finally putting an end to their season high 6 game losing skid. Furcal’s 11th inning solo homerun proved to be the game winner, and Saito made his 3rd appearance in 21 games to collect his 28th save. Although they lost the series, a win in extra innings is amidst a drought, is always something celebrate.

The Dodgers went into the last game of a 3 game series with the Reds having been losers of their last 6 consecutive games. During that span, they have been as flat out awful with runners in scoring position, hitting 1-41, powerless, 1 home run, and unable to put their bats on the ball with a .215 average. This is the trend of the Dodgers of late, offense napping but stellar pitching. Starters Mark Hendrickson, Chad Billingsley, and Brett Tomko each kept their team well within the game. The efforts of the bullpen have also been superb.

Things worth note, Delwyn Young had four hits but left the game in the eighth inning with cramps. Scott Proctor pitched 2 solid innings to collect his first win as a Dodger. The 28 consecutive innings without a run was snapped when Jeff Kent hit a sacrifice fly in the first inning.

The Blue Crew packs up their bags and fly to St. Louis for a 3 game series
